4 EASY + FREE ways you can support small businesses

Hey friends!

I wanted to make a blog post that shares some ways to support small businesses like myself that cost you absolutely NOTHING! If you’ve ever wondered what are some ways you can support your friends who run their own business without buying services from them, here are just a few simple things you can do that will actually make a BIG impact! They’re super simple and easy but will go a long way! I know personally, I appreciate these forms of support waaaayyy more than you know. It means the WORLD to me to have people support me in these ways, and I’m sure your other favorite small businesses can agree with me on this one.

Here ya go!

1.) WRITE A REVIEW.

Reviews are HUGE for small businesses! Think about when you go to hire someone for a service online, or want to try a new restaurant in town.. what’s the first thing you search? REVIEWS. Reviews heavily impact our decisions on whether or not we proceed with a business, and if we read good reviews, we are way more likely to continue with giving that business with good reviews a chance. Reviews are EXTREMELY helpful to any small business, so consider leaving one next time you have great things to say about someone’s business! To review Toni Marie Photography, you can leave a review in 3 different ways:

And if you’re ever feeling extra generous… you can always copy and paste your review onto multiple platforms to really spread your love for your fave small businesses!

2.) GET SOCIAL!

Following small businesses on social media is another huge help and a very simple way to show your support. Not only is it great to follow along your with fave small businesses on social media, but it helps us business owners a ton to have a following! Social media keeps us connected in our day and age, but it also is a way to help small businesses grow their platform and be able to reach more people. ENGAGING with your small businesses on social media is huge, too! The more interaction a page or post gets, the more likely Instagram (for example) will notice it and push it out to more people because it’s gaining good traction. Instagram especially loves that because what’s happening is essentially it’s triggering its social media algorithm- saying, HEY THIS POST IS MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY, and then pushes the content out into the world little by little to see if more of the world will like the post, too. I’m sure you can tell, but for me, the best social media platform is Instagram, you can follow along with me here!

3.) SHARE AND SPREAD

This not only means telling your friends and family about the business, (which is a huge HUGE plus, too!) but it also means that sharing things on your OWN social media pages… like posts and stories… is a wonderful way you can help spread more business to the one you’re raving about!

4.) WORDS OF AFFIRMATION, ANYONE?

Ok, If you know me, you know my love language is words of affirmation lol! BUT seriously guys, small businesses WORK SO HARD. They do MOST of every single job needed to produce a functioning and profitable business- not just what you see but everything you DON’T see on social media. The blood, sweat, tears, and waaaaay more than 40 hours a week most weeks. So, your encouragement goes A LONG FREAKING WAY. Write them a sweet letter, or leave them a kind DM. Show your support by just cheering them on and sharing your heart! It uplifts us small business owners way more than you realize! It could be the very best thing that happens that day or week for someone, so don’t be afraid to slide into those DMs and just leave a kind, encouraging note! We all need a little pick me up sometimes :)

Well folks, there ya have it! Super easy and simple ways you can support your fave small businesses without it costing you a penny. And it’s so appreciated you guys, IT REALLY IS.
